Remember when the realm of fairies was just a simple turning of the mind, so simple that the line between reality and fantasy was as transparent as fairy wings? Well the following books are perfect for recapturing that period of your childhood and sharing it with your own children. Definitely worthy of a look, you'll love the bright, bold and whimsical illustrations. Carefully crafted with creative prose, your imagination will gobble these stories right up.
(c2009, Outskirts Press; ages 9-12)
After losing her parents, little Aurora sets off on her own to discover who she is and where she belongs. Along the way Aurora receives special gifts and clues to both keep her help her find her new home. I LOVED this story! Wonderful illustrations bring the verse to life. Mythical and magical, it tells the story of a little girl finding her place in this world. My daughters adored the story and this book definitely goes on the shelf to read each Christmas.
" Fairy Hunters, INK" by Sheila A. Dane
(c2008, Dane & Dane, LLC ; ages 6-10, 9-12)
Claim your favorite armchair or rocker, grab your softest, cuddliest blanket and curl up with "Fairy Hunters, INK." You're going to love it! I love books on fairies and have read as many as the library will share and this book deserves a place among the best. A meandering tale of encounters with real fairies, the kind of story you want to take its time as the world of fairies is revealed to you, one delicate rose petal at a time.
I especially enjoyed the narrator's playful way with the characters Ashley, Big Rabbit and Turtle. I found the journal entries to be intriguing and the best and most accurate details of fairy sightings that I've seen in a long time. I would love to see this book in hardback, perhaps with a smaller font to add to that older storybook/fairytale quality-and to make this book a true collectible! I look forward to more from Sheila Dane. An all around great read.
"The Fairy Queen's Baby" by Amy Lynn Brown
(c2007, Trafford Publishing; ages 9-12)
The Fairy Queen's Baby is an enchanting mother-daughter/coming of age tale that will delight girls of all ages! Bold, colorful illustrations cast a magical spell on the imagination sweeping the reader into a fairy world dear to the heart. It's as if Ms. Brown's special calling is to remind us all of the magic we possess in the gifts of peace and love - and to share them with the world.

Top-level comments on this article: (5 total)I know that you won't believe me but fairies are indeed very real and simply another order of God's interdimensional creations;but,if you ask Irish or Icelandics theyll assure you of actual personal sightings.Behind every seeming fictional tale is an element of solid truth and behind this one is unbelieveable factual authenticity;like angel sightings, another real interdimensional creation of God,fairies have been witnessed for millenia. It's a shame children aren't taught these truths.I told you that you wouldn't believe me.
